Friday's Shoot

This is what I was up to yesterday.

I'm overall pleased with these given my limitations (equipment, space and skills). The light is good (sunshine on snow), and the color of their clothes is true to life but I do not like the skin tones- the color casts are strong (they look too pinkish/reddish) and I don't know yet how to correct this. And I'm sorry that J.'s hands were chopped off in the last one, but I had to move fast between posing them and going back to my spot, and I'll take what I can.

If it looks to you like J. has something in his mouth, you are right (peanut m&m's this time). I still don't have an assistant and this is the only way I know to get him to sit for me (we do make sure he brushes his teeth).

One piece of advice: make sure your battery is charged before you begin (I got J. and I. dressed, set up everything, and then proceeded to waste 1 1/2 hours waiting for the battery to charge- newbie mistake).

Hi Cindy!

I'm from ILP... I have an idea for getting rid of your skin color casts... (I'm always taking red out!) I dup my layer... on the lower layer create a "select color" adjustment layer. Go to the "red" palette. Decrease your magenta, yellow and black (I usually end up doing about 8 or so depending on the background). Go to your top layer, create a layer mask... erase out the faces/skin to reveal your corrected color beneath. This will retain your overall color, but take it out of the skin! HTH!
